Kid Kits© are backpacks filled with goodies especially for children, such as school supplies, toys and games, hygiene items and non-perishable food.

Kid Kits© help in the following ways:

  • Backpacks provide kids with basic necessities and comfort items, especially at a time when their families have lost everything
  • Backpacks act as back-to-school "survival" packages for young students
  • Backpacks are delivered directly into the hands of needy children
  • Backpack items immediately assist children with school and hygiene supplies, toys and educational materials, and novelty items such as candy and personal letters/cards from donors

Kid Kits© are made possible through the generous contributions of students, local organizations, clubs, and other community groups. Volunteers help donate and assemble backpacks filled with appropriate items, which Relief International then distributes directly to child victims of Hurricane Katrina. By engaging and witnessing the impact of philanthropy, citizens are able to participate in the humanitarian effort by assisting people in states of emergency.
